By the time he broke into the wider public consciousness for his contributions to the 2005 film “Hustle & Flow,” Al Kapone had already established himself as local legend here in Memphis. While very much steeped in the eery zeitgeist of the time, Kapone’s second album Da Resurrection also has a distinct G-funk bounce that helped to set him apart amongst a very crowded field.
